Itinerary

Day 1: Penang Island – Cameron Highlands (Recommended hotel: Strawberry Resort)

Stop At: Cameron Highlands, Malaysia
8am Meet and greet at your Penang hotel and depart for Cameron Highlands – a hill resort with cool temperatures and vast greenery of tea plantations farmlands, flower nurseries, aborigines. It was discovered by Sir William Camerons in 1885. Tea plantations are instrumental in bringing visitors to Camerons and work closely with WWF in conservation of critically endangered mammals like tigers, elephants, tapirs. sun bears etc. It is a wonderful feeling to sip tea perched on an elevated tea cafe to catch a bird’s eye view of lust carpet of greenery below. Take a stroll through the rolling hills for photo shoots. After lunch at Tanah Rata (biggest township in Camerons) visit Butterfly Farm – a paradise for butterflies and insects. The market sells vegetables, fruits and flowers grown in the Camerons. Check in to hotel. Due to the cool weather , the best selling dinner is “HOT POT”. Traffic jams in Camerons unavoidable.

Day 2: Camerons – Rainforest Taman Negara (Recommended hotel: Mutiara Resort)

Stop At: Taman Negara National Park, Taman Negara National Park
8.00am After breakfast depart for Taman Negara. Walk up the Canopy walkway to have a bird’s eye view of the world’s oldest rainforest. Fridays Canopy closed. The boatman negotiates 7 sets of rapids and reaches an aborigine village to watch fire making and blowpipe hunting techniques. They live carefree lives and the rainforest is their supermarket. The experienced Nature Guide will belt out facts and taboos of the jungle as he takes you Jungle Trekking talking about medicinal and poisonous plants. Ask him about the elusive aphrodisiacs ! Check in to hotel. After dinner at Floating Cafe, join nature guide for the Nite Jungle walk to look for spiders, scorpions, snakes, even wild boars and black panther foraging for food. Also watch nocturnal animals come for their salt lick. Nature Guide lives in Taman Negara itself and he knows the terrain like the back of his hands. Return to hotel. And the Forest Orchestra plays on…

Day 3: Rainforest Taman Negara – Kuala Lumpur (Recommended hotel : Shangrila )

Stop At: Kuala Lumpur, Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan
8am After breakfast depart for Kuala Lumpur – the capital city of Malaysia with colonial buildings recognised by UNESCO as a Heritage city. Drop by at the iconic Batu Caves and climb 272 steps into the temple of Hindu Deity honored during “Thaipusam”.
Visit Independent Square of Colonial buildings – Sultan Abdul Samad Building, St Mary’s Cathedral, Clubhouse, Jamek Mosque where Kuala Lumpur got her name. Continue on to colorful Little India specially dedicated for the Indian Community with a colorful maze of shops selling Indian textiles, traditional goods and restaurants serving authentic Indian foods. Finally drive past bustling Chinatown with transfer to your hotel by 6 pm. End of tour.

Stop At: Batu Caves, Batu Caves, Selangor
Batu Caves is a limestone outcrop and home of Hindu Deities. Bonus stop at the Caves and climb 272 steps into the temple of Hindu Deity honored during “Thaipusam” – a Hindu festival where devotees give thanks for vows fulfilled. Ladies to be properly attired – knees and shoulders covered. The towering 140 feet Statue of one of the Deities is mesmerizing.

Day 4: Kuala Lumpur – UNESCO Malacca (Recommended hotel: Puri at Jonkers’ Street)

Stop At: Malacca Heritage Centre, Jonker St, Malacca, Melaka Malaysia
Malacca is a melting pot of history with the Portuguese and the Dutch occupancy from 1511. It was an international trading port. Malacca is declared a UNESCO Heritage City. Visit a traditional Malay village Kampong Morten right in the heart of Malacca Town. Its a private museum with traditional Malay artifacts and relics. Visit St Peter’s Church and the Stadthuys – home of the Dutch Governor now the Dutch Museum, St Paul’s Hill and the A Famosa – Portuguese built fort of European architectural marvel.

Finally visit Jonkers’ Street – a bustling open air market and known as the street of antiques. A lively market selling various souvenirs and foods. A historic impact was caused by Chinese migrants who married into local women and created the “Peranakans”. The Indians created the “Chittys”. Check in to hotel. Freshen up and you will be guided for dinner and revisit Jonkers’ Street at night. Good nite !

Day 5: UNESCO Malacca – Singapore drop off.
