Pass By: Pulau Manukan, Pulau Manukan, Sabah

Your guide cum driver waits after having had a good breakfast at your hotel and drives you to the main boat pier (Jesselton Point Ferry) where you will board your vessel that brings you to one of the islands – Pulau Manukan -, one of the better islands for a day having fun in the sun. The Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park is one of these sandy pearls in the South China Sea, offering day trips for those seeking a paradisiac destination within a short sailing range from Kota Kinabalu. Named after the country’s first Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman, it gained the official status of National Park in 1974 and became the second national park in the country.

Stop At: Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park, Kota Kinabalu Malaysia

This park comprises of 5 islands – Pulau Gaya, Pulau Sapi, Pulau Manukan, Pulau Mamutik and Pulau Sulu – with sufficient sandy beaches and azure-coloured waters that make up for a tropical escape.

The boat ride takes approximately 15 minutes and you will see the islands slowly popping up above the horizon. Once you put your feet in the sand, it is all relaxation time for you and your travel companions; laze around with a good book with the ocean winds and swaying palm trees, providing chilled background music. Or when the stunningly clear waters calling out your name, snorkelling equipment is available to see what’s happening below the ocean surface.
