Day 1: KUALA LUMPUR – TAMAN NEGARA (Hotel Recommended: Mutiara Resort)

Stop At: Gombak, Batu Caves 68100 Malaysia

7.00am – 7.30am Complimentary pick up from your Kuala Lumpur hotel to Taman Negara, enroute visit iconic Batu Caves a limestone outcrop and the home of Hindu Deity honored during the Hindu festival of Thaipusam every year. Devotees give thanks for vows fulfilled. Ladies to be properly attired to enter the temple – knees and shoulders to be covered. Climb 272 steps for an experience.

Taman Negara is a 130 million years old tropical rainforest with critically endangered animals as in Tigers, Elephants, Tapirs, Sun Bears, 14,000 flowering plants, 300 bird species and the list is endless.
7.00 – 7.30 am Complimentary pick up from your Kuala Lumpur hotel reception and visit the Batu Caves. On arrival at Kuala Tahan, lunch and walk up the Canopy Walkway for a bird’s eye views of the World’s Oldest Rainforest. Fridays Canopy closed. During Rapids Shooting The boatman negotiates 7 sets of rapids to reach aborigine village to watch fire making skills and blowpipe hunting techniques. The rainforest is their supermarket. The Nature Guide belts out facts and taboos of Taman Negara. He will talk about medicinal and poisonous plants. Did you say aphrodisiacs? Check in to hotel. Nite Jungle Walk to look for snakes, insects, scorpions and watch nocturnal animals come for their salt lick. Return to hotel. The Forest Orchestra plays on….

Day 2: RAINFOREST TAMAN NEGARA – CAMERON HIGHLANDS (Hotel recommended: Strawberry Resort)

Stop At: Cameron Highlands, Malaysia
Cameron Highlands is a hill resort with cool temperatures and large tea plantations, farmlands, nurseries, waterfalls, lakes, aborigines.
On arrival at Tanah Rata visit a tea plantation and take a stroll for photo shoots. Tea plantations are instrumental in drawing visitors to the Highlands. The Plantations work closely with WWF (World Wildlife Foundation) in conservation of our endangered mammals. It is a wonderful experience to sip tea perched on an elevated tea cafe to catch a glimpse of the lush carpet of greenery below.
The Butterfly farm is a secret paradise of butterflies and insects that dance on scented flowers. Take a stroll through the marketplace to see a variety of vegetables, fruits and flowers grown in the Camerons. Some farmers are into organic farming due to the growing niche market. Check in to hotel. Free and easy. Recommended dinner : the ‘HOT POT’ – a famous meal that augurs well for the cool weather. Traffic jams in Camerons unavoidable.

Day 3: CAMERONS – PENANG ISLAND (Hotel recommended : Golden Sands Hotel )

Stop At: Penang Island, Penang Island, Penang
8am After breakfast, depart for Penang Island known as the Pearl of the Orient, now a UNESCO Heritage City. It is a food haven with colonial landmarks as in Fort Cornwallis where Sir Francis Light landed in 1786. Visit the Clan Jetties, Sleeping Buddha and take a trishaw ride to Fort Cornwallis before check in at Batu Feringghi beach front- the happening place in Penang Island. It has water sports as in Jet Skiing, Para Sailing, Wind Surfing etc. Dining options of seafood restaurants, street foods, and fascinating Malaysian as well as International Cuisine with seafront night markets.
